नमस्‍ते

Greetings in Marwari are complex if you are within a set group. Depending on your religion, caste, subcaste and status, you have a myriad of different possible greetings to give to the other person depending on their factors as listed above. Ideally you would be raised knowing what these are but as you are reading this we can assume that you are not with in that grouping. If you are, ask a relative.

As you are not within any of these groupings one should use one rather universal greeting:

नमस्‍ते

Translated loosely: Hello.

Many Hindus will greet eachother regardless of group with the name of Ram repeated twice. The correct response would be to echo them. It would be acceptable to respond to this with नमस्‍ते
